Give a little, share with your friends and change the world. Social media is being harnessed to make a difference. The domino effect of social media can now be used to make a difference in the world or down the street. Everyonegives.org is a new web site just launched by Seattle-based Colliers International, a giant in commercial real estate. The idea came from global chief executive Doug Frye.
Last week EveryoneGives.org launched and after the first day $160,000 in pledges were generated by 4000 users in 53 countries. Wow! According to a Seattle Times article, Mr. Frye expects the web site to generate over $1 million in donations in the first year. Plus 100% of the donation dollars go directly to the partner charities.
Participants start by “planting a virtual tree” which is a donation of $5.00 to $20. Using Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn the donor encourages their network of friends to give and the tree begins to grow $5 at a time.
The Kathi Goertzen Foundation is now one of more than 900 charities included on the EveryoneGives.org site and we encourage you to join our tree, Kathi Goertzen Foundation, or start your own tree and give to the Kathi Goertzen Foundation. Our goal is to find a cure for all kinds of brain tumors. Inspire Hope Cure is our motto. Our mission is to inspire people with brain tumors and to inspire research to find a cure. Please give $5.00 and tell five people. No donation is too small. Let’s inspire each other. We can make a difference!
